VANGUARD SERIES

The Vanguard Series brings excellent value to high-quality designs. Since the start of Kizer Cutlery, they have focused on the high end of the knife market with their impeccable quality and premium materials. This has earned them a place in the hearts of their fans. To increase the accessibility of Kizer brand products, they took the designs of the Bladesmith and Prime Series, and while keeping the quality at the same high level, re-forged them using materials that bring extra value for the money spent. Kizer uses only materials that have stellar performance, such as VG10 for the blades and G10 or stainless steel for the handles. This way, Kizer products are available at all budget levels but still maintain that incredible quality of construction.

So good I want another one.

I initially saw the Drop Bear on youtube and was impressed by one of my favourites company's attempts at the Axis lock. The adjustability and utilitarian design really caught my eye. They disappeared from amazon and other suppliers really quickly but fortunately The Knife [****] had the black coated version with the purple thumb stud in stock. Impulsively I bought it right then and there...
and I have to say that I am 100% impressed. Every aspect of this knife feels great, the blade design (although not everyone's cup of tea) is bulky enough for EDC tasks and the grip gets a 8.5 out of 10 for comfort.
The aluminium scales give the knife some heft and along with the matt finish is surprisingly grippy.

And then comes the locking mechanism. Now remember, this is [****] first attempt at an Axis Lock style locking mechanism and you could have told me that they have been doing this for years as the lockup is fantastic, no stick of any kind. The ballbearings add that final push to make this knife an ADHD knife carriers brain melt with fidgety goodness.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the springs are adjustable?

if you like a 3" blade that is utilitarian in design, with a solid locking mechanism (that is ambidextrous) and a fidget factor of 11, then get yourself one of these.

I am certainly getting another one asap.

Awesome knife

The knife has a surprising amount of weight to it for its small design (which I like). The adjustable crossbar/axis lock mechanism is new, and the action is super smooth. Overall, an awesome knife that I would highly recommend!
